I was flicking through ‘The Fashion Book’, when I came across Boue Soeurs. The Paris couture house flourished at the beginning of the twentieth century. Below are the most exquisite pair of gripoix Chanel earrings, possibly late 1970’s early 1980’s, from Nina Polli Vintage.
I recently stumbled upon a vintage Chanel brooch, the oldest Chanel piece to be added to the collection. It has the Chanel stamp indicating that it was made between 1954 and 1970, but I have a hunch it is closer to 1954. What thrills me about this brooch is that it is clearly inspired by Coco Chanel’s love of Coromandel screens from Japan. The tiny fans have Japanese birds engraved on them and are just exquisite. If anyone out there can shed light on when this was made I would love to hear from you!
Antonio Marras showed his collection for Fall 2011 in Milan on February 25, 2011. Taking inspiration from his mother Nannina, this collection pays homage not only to his mother but the forties were celebrated with cinched in waists, red lips, stockings, and floral dresses. Team this inspiration with Marras’s elegant eclectic style and wonderful layering, it is absolutely one of my favourites for next season. Below is a piece from Nina Polli Vintage that for me evokes a similar quality.
I just discovered the amazing beauty of these delicate illustrations by illustrator Daniel Egnéus. Here he shows his work process on You Tube, creating the beautifully illustrated Little Red Riding Hood. Enjoy!
Oh and just wanted to share the beauty of these Chanel earrings, from Nina Polli Vintage, which seem to match the intricate beauty of Daniel’s work…
These beautiful images are from the presentation of the Paris-Byzance Collection in Istanbul. You can view more of these beautiful images here. Below are two new pieces, just arrived in Nina Polli Vintage. The thing I love about Chanel is the timeless beauty, these pieces would have fitted perfectly in the Paris-Byzance show, yet thirty years has passed!
Its time to start looking forward to balmy evenings, summer dresses, the heat of the sun and the smell of the ocean…Below are a couple of new pieces from Nina Polli Vintage, a very pretty blue enamel Givenchy bracelet and a gorgeous mother of pearl Chanel camelia pendant brooch. I never fully understood the appeal of Erin O’Connor until I watched the Chanel 4 documentary ‘This Model Life’. She has the most grace and elegance I have seen on a model and I dont think any model can show couture as she does. She reminds me of the great ballerina Sylvie Guillem, another of my favourites. I think If I were to ask her to model any of the pieces in Nina Polli Vintage, it would be the ones below… Chanel necklace bold and beautiful, just like Erin and amazing crocodile handbag.
I couldn’t resist posting these stunning backstage photos featured on chanel.com.alongside a couple of gorgeous vintage Chanel pieces from Nina Polli Vintage.
